Swimming pool & leisure slip testing in Derby

Wet, barefoot environments are uniquely demanding. Pool surrounds, changing rooms and shower areas need to grip when soaking wet and walked on with bare feet.

UKASACCREDITED

Every test by a UKAS-accredited technician

We provide the full range of slip resistance test methods recognised by the HSE, building control bodies, insurers and the courts. Every test is conducted by a UKAS-accredited technician — so your results aren’t just a reading, they’re evidence that stands up to scrutiny.

Testing barefoot, wet environments

Leisure floors are used barefoot and almost always wet, so a standard shod test won’t tell the whole story. We test using the Slider 55 barefoot rubber and replicate fully wet conditions to reflect genuine use.

This matters for pool surrounds, shower blocks, changing villages, sauna and steam areas, and the transition zones where wet feet meet drier flooring.

Barefoot ratings: where specifications call for it, we relate results to the DIN 51097 barefoot ramp ratings (A/B/C) alongside the pendulum PTV.

Where we test

Public and hotel swimming pools, the city’s leisure centres, gyms, spas and health clubs across Derby and Derbyshire.

When to test

After installing or resurfacing wet-area flooring, following any slip incident, and as part of routine pool-safety management.

R-rating interpretation

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Do you test pool surrounds barefoot?

Yes. Wet barefoot areas are tested with the Slider 55 barefoot rubber in fully wet conditions, which is the correct method for pools, showers and changing areas.

Can you relate results to barefoot A/B/C ratings?

Where your specification requires it we interpret findings against the DIN 51097 barefoot ramp ratings alongside the pendulum PTV result.

Our pool surround feels fine when dry — is that enough?

No. Wet barefoot performance is what counts in a pool environment, and dry grip is no guarantee of it. That’s exactly the condition we test.
